This aims to be a characterful and resourceful “straight setting” of the libretto, scored for four singers and chamber ensemble. The accompaniment features many different variations on a repeating chordal pattern, which is used to create backdrops from the bureaucratic to the dreamy to the epic to the angry - fantastic fun and expertly signposted in the libretto. The centre piece is the short tune used to convey Alex’s reading of the dreams.
