ENO has launched its innovative world-wide search for new creative talent. We’re looking for writers, composers and filmmakers to help us redefine opera.
Over the next eight weeks we’re asking the world’s writers to take a look at the stories our authors Will Self, A.L. Kennedy and Neil Gaiman have kindly given us, pick one, and write a script for a 5-7 minute opera based on the original story. You can do whatever you like with the story - say what happened next, tell it from one of the characters’ perspectives or even riff on a feeling, emotion or single word from it. Whatever - it’s completely up to you.
Competitions for music making and film making will follow.
We’ll be adding more to the site all the time and will always shout about it from here so check back often. In the meantime, get reading and then get writing.
